Dr. Peter Ariev has 15 years of experience focused on professional development for faculty, curriculum design, assessment, and online teaching and learning. Peter comes to UMBC from the Johns Hopkins University Business School where he served as Director of Teaching Development. In this role, Peter helped create new systems of faculty development focused on pedagogical skill, course and assessment design, instructional technology innovation, and program assessment.
Previously, Peter served as an Associate Professor and Education Department Chair at Loyola University Maryland. He holds a PhD in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Maryland, College Park, specializing in professional development; an MEd in Curriculum and Instruction from George Mason University; and a BA in Political Science from Hamilton College. He recently completed a graduate certificate on online teaching and learning from Johns Hopkins University.
