Dr. Susan Biro

Dr. Susan Biro is Manager, Online Learning where her work focuses on supporting and expanding online learning courses and programs. With more than 25 years of experience in distance learning administration, she collaborates with faculty and academic leaders to advance effective teaching practices, online course design, and quality assurance.

Her areas of expertise include Universal Design for Learning, Open Educational Resources, Quality Matters (QM), and microcredential development. Susan serves as one of UMBC’s QM Coordinators and is a certified Course Review Manager, Peer Reviewer, and Independent Online APPQMR Facilitator. She also teaches Applied Learning Science as an instructor in UMBC’s post-master’s Certificate in College Teaching and Learning Sciences program.

Susan earned a Doctor of Education with a specialization in Leadership in Higher Education and a Master of Education in Adult Education from Widener University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Delaware State University.
