Celebrating Microcredential Innovation at UMBC’s 10th Annual Teaching & Learning Symposium

Microcredentials are showing up in exciting places across UMBC! 🎉 At this year's Teaching & Learning Symposium, two UMBC teams will share how they're using them to help students recognize, articulate, and connect what they're learning to experiences inside and outside the classroom.

📌 Microcredentials for Service and Learning Storytelling

Emily Passera, Emily Paul, Alex Ballard, & Lori Hardesty, Shriver Center

This project explores how microcredentials can help students recognize, reflect on, and communicate their leadership development through creative storytelling connected to their service-learning experiences.

📌 Microcredentials as Tools for the Integration of the Liberal Arts and Workforce Development

Felipe Filomeno, Political Science & Global Studies

This research examines how embedding microcredentials into liberal arts courses can support career readiness, professional identity, and students’ ability to articulate the skills they are developing.
